USA Appoints First, Lay Woman VPAA

Iloilo City, Philippines – In a groundbreaking move that highlights its commitment to diversity and gender equality, the University of San Agustin (USA) has appointed Dr. Maria Luisa R. Llorente as its Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), making her the first lay woman to hold the prestigious position in the history of the institution.
Dr. Llorente, an esteemed academic leader with over 20 years of experience in higher education, assumed her new role on April 15, 2024. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Dean of the College of Education and was instrumental in launching several innovative programs that enhanced the college’s academic standards and student services.
A Trailblazer for Women in LeadershipDr. Llorente’s appointment marks a historic milestone for the university, as she becomes the first laywoman to take on the role of VPAA.
